FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I schedule a studio visit?

Visitors are welcome here at the Buelteman Studio. Please contact us via this page to arrange a studio visit at a time of your choosing.

Do you make site visits to assist clients in their image selections?

Yes - I visit prospective clients in the greater San Francisco Bay Area and beyond with artworks to see what might work in their design plans. For those who live outside that area, I offer consultation via email, Zoom and phone.

Can you ship your artworks to me?

Yes, we crate and ship throughout the United States, and can ship internationally when required.

Do you provide installation services of your artworks?

Yes, installation services by third parties are available and can be scheduled and supervised my myself for an additional fee.

How can I see your photographs that aren't on the website?

Make your request via the contact form, specifying your aesthetic interests, for example, B&W or color, subject matter, vertical or horizontal, installation location and size, and I will send you candidate images.

How are your prints made?

Black-and-white prints are made here in my studio darkroom, color prints are made in a friend's color lab in San Francisco under my direct supervision.

Why aren't your artworks priced on your website?

These are exhibition-quality fine art prints, made by myself to the highest standards in a variety of sizes and media. Representing a lifetime of work with multiple portfolios, both open- and limited-edition, and so many potential sizes and media, it is impossible to price in all possible iterations that any given image might take. Therefore, I quote prices based on my clients' specific requirements.

What are the considerations that establish the price point of your artworks?

-The size and medium of the piece

-Whether the piece in question is from an open- or limited-edition series

            -Position in the limited-edition series

-Whether the piece is made traditionally with a camera or without

-Artist’s creative history including exhibitions, publications, collections, etc.

-Framing, crating and shipping expenses, which are passed through without markup

What is the price range of your original artworks?

Unframed black-and-white open-edition prints range from $800.00 to $6,000.00 with larger commissioned pieces by quotation.

Unframed color limited-edition cameraless works range from $1,600.00 to $15,000.00 in standard sizes with larger commissioned pieces by quotation.

Do you provide framing services?

Yes, for local installations. It is more economical to ship prints rolled and unframed to distant locations for local framing.

What are the terms of ordering a print?

All commissions require a 50% non-refundable deposit with the balance being due for shipment or at delivery.

How long does it take to make a finished piece ready for installation?

While I have a number of previously exhibited and framed pieces available in studio, I usually print and frame to order which takes approximately 8 weeks from the time of the receipt of a deposit.
